What’s this all about?
What’s it like to be old? And when do you class yourself as old? My inspiration to start a blog came after reading a book called ‘Oldenland’ by Professor Roger Clough in which he describes a journey into old age. But I don’t class myself as old…..but should I?
I am 76 years old, in reasonable health, and a retired NHS-doctor who lives ‘Up North’.
I recently tripped up in a pub (completely sober) and couldn’t stop myself from falling. Apart from my dignity there were no injuries, but a group of ladies sitting nearby helped me up. Later I was at the bar and on their way out I heard one say, “I hope that old man is ok after his fall!” So it appears I AM old!
So in the course of this blog I will share some observations about my journey as an Oldie. If you are reading it, I hope you enjoy it!
